Basics 2009 Pastor’s conference

Basics 2009 Pastor’s conference

I sit here at Parkside Church near Cleveland, Ohio having just finished the first day’s session of the Basics 2009 Pastor’s Conference. In listening to Pastor John Piper expound the need for Pastors and churches to remain faithful to sound doctrine and in particular the doctrine of the  justification by faith alone and the imputation of Christ’s righteousness to our account, I am more convinced in our stand at CHCC to the clear proclamation of the truth of God’s word in everything we do.  We can not and must not compromise the very souls of men and the joy of the elect by allowing any facet of biblical dotrine to go untaught.  Thank you CHCC for allowing me that freedom to expound God’s word in all of it’s fullness. For blogging of the ongoing conference refer to our links of ‘Trusted Bloggers’, in particluar Tim Challies.  Also link to Parkside church for details of  the conference and downloads of the sessions.

Awana Award night!

Awana Award night!

Tonight at 6:30 pm is the final Awana program for the year at CHCC. The kids will be receiving their awards for the hard work they have put in. What a great evening it will be for them and their parents and grandparents. They had a great time at their carnival last week and pictures from that evening will soon be added to our website. All are welcome tonight. If you have never sent your kids to Awana and are considering it, please checkout the website and come tonight to see the impact that Awana has on kids. Our kids, and yes your kids, need to have instilled in them godly virtue and truth spoken into their lives. Awana does that. Also see the updated ‘Our People’ page for pictures from our Mother Daughter dinner last Friday night. It’s great being here at CHCC.

Another great Sunday at CHCC!

Another great Sunday at CHCC!

What a great day to be in the house of the Lord. Our sermon, at CHCC, was part 3 of our series on Worship, taken from Isaiah 1. We saw today that God invites us to clean up our worship before bringing it to Him as He detests hollow worship. It isn’t an issue of outward tweaking or polishing of our worship but an inward cleaning of our hands and the ‘putting off of the evil of our deeds’ not simply putting off the evil deeds. You can listen to the entire sermon by going to ‘Our Sermons’ page and clicking on the slider bar. You’ll also notice a new look there, as we have made it a little easier to use and the scripture passage is listed there for you also. You can even listen to the passage being read if you like. What a great time of praises being shared and communion around the Lord’s Table today.

Mother/Daughter Dinner

Mother/Daughter Dinner

What a great time we all had at the Mother Daughter Dinner. Everyone had great comments about it as the ladies enjoyed dinner, a devotional by Tammy, Chantelle and Sharon, music by Val and fellowship with each other. Thanks to all the men who helped with the decorating, meal and clean up. A special thanks to Jim Titler for his interior design expertise and decorating. It was a pleasure to serve the ladies. Check out the ‘Our People’ page in the next couple of days for pictures of the night. Looking forward to another great day in the Lord’s house this weekend as we continue our message series on Worship from the book of Isaiah and communion.

Prepare to worship

Prepare to worship

It has been a good week at CHCC.  We are receiving great comments about the new website and some helpful recommendations about it also.  Keep the comments and the e-mails coming. This week’s message will be from Isaiah 1 as we begin a short series on biblical worship.  The first couple of weeks will be on our own preparation to worship and what worship is.  The evangelical church must re-examine what true worship is and begin to conduct itself as worshippers of the true God in reverence, awe and respect and not as self seeking participants at a sporting or entertainment event. Worship services are not about us and how we feel during or afterward but about God and His glory and whether we have approached His presence as He has prescribed.  He will not share His glory nor His worship with anyone else and that includes you and me.  God hates false worship! But when we honor Him in praise, when He receives the glory from our singing and preaching, when the Father’s name is hallowed, then our worship time becomes our most treasured and meaningful moments of our lives.   The creation has fulfilled it’s purpose before it’s creator and it is most happy.  Let’s return to our purpose, to honor our creator together. It should be an exciting series.  Come WORSHIP with us at CHCC on Sunday morning at 9:30 am.

Welcome to our new website

Welcome to our new website

This is an exciting time for CHCC and especially for me as Pastor.  Our new website site is up and running.  This is something new to me as I haven’t been one to care much for writing.  However, with today’s technology, our church has seen the potential to further encourage our people and proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ, therefor as Pastor I will learn to write and ‘like it’. Our site will be updated every couple of days with encouragement from God’s word, recaps of our previous preaching and teaching sessions, announcements concerning events at our church, and at times maybe even a random thought or two.   You, as a visitor to the site, are encouraged to leave comments in response to my blogs, the Sunday messages or even the color of my tie on Sunday morning.  Please leave comments as this encourages other readers. Browse around the site.  We will be adding things as we grow but for now you will find what we believe, a short history of the church, pictures of things happening at Center Hill, interesting and trusted links to other organizations  and churches.  You can even listen to past messages.   Check out ‘Our Hope’ page.  It’s the essence of who we are and why we exist.  Better yet, come and visit us.  We’d love to see you. God is good and I am looking forward to Him working in our midst. Soli Deo Gloria!
