As a church who’s stated mission is ‘to disciple people from unbelief to spiritual maturity in Jesus Christ’, we have been forced to look at the different make up of the individuals who define our church. Their ages, their sex, their ideals and backgrounds, their occupations and leisure all effect the body of Christ we call our church. Some like slow music, some like outdoor services, some like their Pastor to wear a tie. We all have our personal predisposed nuances of what pleases us and what are our real and perceived needs. We are each different, God made us with wonderful differences. However different we are, the gospel is not. It is the same good news to all people in all times. That will not change nor will our commitment to the gospel.
However, I have recently had a burden for a special group of our people, the women, especially the mothers and homemakers of our church. We each seem to spend most of our lives in the ‘everyday ‘ things of life, ‘living life in the mundane’ but it sometimes is much more real for those ladies who find themselves committed to family before fun or ‘fulfillment’. We all need encouraged in our God called positions and ministries of life but at times, our Godly ‘moms’ are overlooked or taken for granted.
For that reason, we have started a new web link category on our web site, it’s called ‘Cup of Tea Corner’. It’s just a few favorite sites of some of the women of our church which have brought a few moments of fun, encouragement or reflection in the Word. As the category suggests, take 15 minutes and get your special cup of tea or coffee, browse the sites and enjoy. Enjoy organizing tips, decorating ideas, fun family projects, humor or an intimate glimpse of our great God from sound biblical insight.
This is not intended to take from your personal study of the word or personal time with your Lord, it’s just a break from an otherwise hectic or possible ‘Hoe Hum’ life of moms. Remember, in the words of Elisabeth Elliot “you are loved with an everlasting love” and very much appreciated by your church.
Now get your tea and start browsing!
