An open letter to CHCC rejoicing in Him

An open letter to CHCC rejoicing in Him

Praise Him! Our annual business meeting was held Sunday after morning worship, our Harvest offering was taken and God moved once again in the hearts of His people. All recommendations were approved by more than a super majority vote and our folks were nearly unanimous in their voting. We are now a plurality of Elders led church! Our morning regular offering was approx $2,700.00 and our Harvest Offering almost matched that with another $2,675.00! Nearly $5,400.00 was given by His people. We can now finish the Children’s Ministry rooms in the next couple of months. The new Elder board will start the process of Deacon nominations for congregational approval and the Elders will begin Shepherding God’s flock at Center Hill. Exciting times for sure. It’s Thanksgiving week and as Senior Pastor, I want to take this opportunity to thank God for each and everyone of you. I will say this again, no Pastor could ask for a better congregation to minister to. You are kind, generous, committed to the Word of God and ever growing in your love for Christ. Our Pie and Praise time on Sunday was amazing for me as Pastor. God was pleased. Watching and hearing families sing, It is ‘Well With My Soul’ and ‘And Can it Be’ nearly brought tears to the eyes of one crusty retired cop. (I actually saw teen aged boys singing) And the testimonies,…. they should have been recorded and as they say “That would have preached”. Tammy and I both want to thank you for the generous gifts during the month of October for Pastor Appreciation month. The gift cards, money, baked goods, jerkies, meals, cards, hunting blind, and the Getty Concert Tickets and overnight stay are so very much appreciated. We are continually humbled by the church’s outpouring of love and kind words. I have received so many emails and phone calls from many of you over the past several months expressing your love not only for Tammy and I but for your love of the Word of God and the God of the Word. You have expressed what God has been doing in your life to expand your view of Him and how He shows His grace in some of the deepest ways possible. I wish I could share each of them but most were spoken in confidentiality and were quite personal. Nothing means more to me than to know that God’s Word and His Son is exalted in the lives of our congregation, nothing! Once again, I love being your Pastor! Soli Deo gloria! PG

Child Protection Policy Training

Child Protection Policy Training

On Sunday, May 31 from 1-4 pm, we will hosting a seminar on the new Child Protective Services Law which went into effect this past January.  All CHCC adults who volunteer to work with our kids, please plan on attending.  We will be discussing mandated reporting, recognizing child abuse and our new church policy regarding CPSL. We have also invited several other churches so we are expecting quite a few people.  We will be having a pot lock luncheon following the morning worship and Sunday School just before the seminar for our own folks.  Child care will be provided.  Please be advised that this might not be appropriate for teenagers and younger.  We are asking that adults only attend. Looking forward to serving and glorifying Him through this.   soli deo gloria!

Tired of ministry?

Tired of ministry?

It amazes me how tiring the ministry can be.  How frustrating and draining both physically and emotionally it can be fighting the fight.  To see defeat when victory should be the only result and to hear discouragement when God’s word and His ministry to us is the very source of true encouragement.  Yes, ministry can be tiring. But I can’t tell you how encouraged I am by those involved in Christ’s kingdom work at Center Hill.  The countless hours by ministry workers in teaching, building, singing, counseling, cleaning, giving, discipling, calling, writing, ‘teching’, cooking, visiting, praying……..ministering, is a Pastor’s delight.  Please know that I do not take any of it for granted, “I thank my God in all my remembrance of you”. I have recently seen in the eyes of some of you a weariness.  I’m concerned but at the same time grateful that you are so committed to Christ and the ministry at Center Hill that you work as hard and pour so much of yourselves into your calling that you grow tired.  God has called us to battle, to minister and that at times is messy and drains us of our energy both emotionally and physically.  It is then, by His strength alone, that we move forward.  And that my friend is how it should be. I don’t believe that I exaggerate the picture, I’m worn at times and so are you.  Take a few minutes and let the music and the words of Tenth Avenue North and the truth of God, encourage you.  As much as this song is written to a weary world needing Christ it also applies to the Christian warrior.  Remember, redemption wins and the struggle does end.  May the Lord find us faithful.       soli deo gloria!

New course – “Instruments in the Redeemer’s Hands”

New course – “Instruments in the Redeemer’s Hands”

Beginning this Wednesday night, April 1, at 5:30 we will be offering a DVD driven course from Christian Counseling and Education Foundation entitled “Instruments in the Redeemers Hands”. We are offering this seminar to only ladies at this time as it is a continuing education course for our ladies involved in our church’s jail ministry. Consider attending as it will transform your thinking about how people change and how we can effect change in the lives of others! Here is the description of the course right from CCEF. “In the Instruments in the Redeemer’s Hands DVD Seminar, Paul Tripp and Tim Lane outline biblical, Christ-centered principles that equip participants for personal ministry to others. The 12-session seminar applies the principles in the Instruments in the Redeemer’s Hands Study Guide and offers an overview of the process of biblical change that will transform the way you think about helping others.” Soli Deo Gloria

Change in meeting days for men’s ministry

Change in meeting days for men’s ministry

Notice, notice, notice. We have changed the day of our men’s ministry, “Metal to Metal” from every first and third Tuesday of the month to every first and third Monday of each month.  Still at 6:30 but the days have changed. We have been enjoying RC Sproul’s Dust to Glory for several months now and it is been very good.  We have numerous teen boys who have joined us, and they even participate in the discussion.  How cool and amazing is that? Hope to see you on Monday night at 6:30. soli deo gloria
