Tired of ministry?

Tired of ministry?

It amazes me how tiring the ministry can be.  How frustrating and draining both physically and emotionally it can be fighting the fight.  To see defeat when victory should be the only result and to hear discouragement when God’s word and His ministry to us is the very source of true encouragement.  Yes, ministry can be tiring. But I can’t tell you how encouraged I am by those involved in Christ’s kingdom work at Center Hill.  The countless hours by ministry workers in teaching, building, singing, counseling, cleaning, giving, discipling, calling, writing, ‘teching’, cooking, visiting, praying……..ministering, is a Pastor’s delight.  Please know that I do not take any of it for granted, “I thank my God in all my remembrance of you”. I have recently seen in the eyes of some of you a weariness.  I’m concerned but at the same time grateful that you are so committed to Christ and the ministry at Center Hill that you work as hard and pour so much of yourselves into your calling that you grow tired.  God has called us to battle, to minister and that at times is messy and drains us of our energy both emotionally and physically.  It is then, by His strength alone, that we move forward.  And that my friend is how it should be. I don’t believe that I exaggerate the picture, I’m worn at times and so are you.  Take a few minutes and let the music and the words of Tenth Avenue North and the truth of God, encourage you.  As much as this song is written to a weary world needing Christ it also applies to the Christian warrior.  Remember, redemption wins and the struggle does end.  May the Lord find us faithful.       soli deo gloria!
